CFTC COT Report for NG

DJ CFTC: Natural Gas Speculators Increase Net Short Position
NEW YORK (Dow Jones)--Large noncommercial traders cut long contracts from and
added short contracts to their natural gas futures positions during the week
ended Dec. 1, increasing their net short position, the Commodity Futures
Trading Commission reported Friday.

  Speculative, or noncommercial, traders cut 3,237 contracts from their long
positions in futures-only contracts and added 324 contracts to their short
positions, resulting in a net short position of 161,068 contracts, 3,651 above
last week's total.

  Open interest was 723,961 contracts, 16,173 more than last week's total.

  In futures and options combined, noncommercial traders were net short by
71,431 contracts, 7,831 more than the previous week.

  Commercial traders were net long in futures-only contracts by 131,427
contracts, 3,217 more than the previous week, after adding long and short
contracts. These traders increased their long positions by 4,722 contracts and
added 1,505 contracts to their short positions.

  Money managers, such as hedge funds, held a net short position in Nymex
natural gas futures of 148,894 contracts in the week, 1,392 above the previous
week.

  The CFTC began splitting large traders into four categories in September.
Money managers and other reportables comprise the previous "non-commercial"
column, while swap dealers and producers, merchants, processors and users were
broken out of the commercial category.
